About the event

Popular Piety and the Senses

The Catholic faith is deeply incarnate, rooted in the belief that God took on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. This profound mystery invites us to engage with our faith through our bodies and senses, embracing the richness of popular piety that has developed throughout the centuries. Popular piety encompasses a variety of devotions and practices that enrich our spiritual lives. These include the rosary, novenas, pilgrimages, and processions, all of which invite the faithful to engage their senses—sight, sound, touch, smell, and even taste—in acts of worship and devotion. Such practices help to cultivate a sense of belonging to the Family of God in the Catholic Church, reminding us that we all united as God's beloved children.
